Cuno and Schuler Cruise to Victory in Staunton State Park 20K

Jeff Cuno, fresh off his victory in the Evergreen Mountain 15K in July, won the inaugural Staunton State Park 20K on Sat., Aug. 4, in a blistering 1 hour, 30 minutes and 6 seconds.
Brian MacPherson was the second male finisher, in 1:33:55, while Lance Risi finished third in 1:34:22.
The first woman was Sara Schuler, who finished fourth overall and almost 12 minutes ahead of her closest competitor, in 1:42:55. Heather Ray was the second woman in 1:54:29 and Amber Miller was third in 1:54:53..
Seventy-two people competed in the race, which was the third event in the 2018 Evergreen Trail Racing Series, five races on challenging mountainous terrain in and around Evergreen put on by Evergreen Park & Recreation District (EPRD).

The Evergreen Trail Racing Series goes to Staunton State Park for the first time in August - the Staunton State Park 20K is happening on Sat., Aug. 4 at 8 AM.

2018 Andy Smith Golf Tournament Winners

Here are the winners of the 2018 Andy Smith Sr. Special Needs Golf Tournament, held on Monday, July 16, 2018, at the Hiwan Golf Club: Putting Contest: Brian Broyles Men's Long Drive: Doug Terry Women's Long Drive: Debbie Wilson Men's Closest to the Hole: Richard Ostberg Women's Closest to the Hole: Marjie Wurster First Place, Women: Chris Castner, Carol Dean, Gail Fallon, Audrey Smith First Place Mixed: John Unruh, Paul Rose, Scott Macdonald, Melissa Lord First Place Men: Pete Mares, Mike Nixon, Craig Thornton, Cory Thornton Highest Score: Chris Castner, Carol Dean, Gail Fallon, Audrey Smith A record 31 foursomes signed up, and 116 golfers participated in the annual golf tournament, organized by Mountain Foothills Rotary Club and Evergreen Park & Recreation District (EPRD). EPRD held a free Muscles and Yoga class this morning on Buchanan Field to celebrate Park and Recreation Month! Participants did stations that included ab work, cardio work, strength work and more. #EPRD #DISCOVERJULY

July is Park & Rec Month!

This July is Park & Recreation Month, with the theme A Lifetime of Discovery. Explore the “undiscovered” roles of local parks and recreation with a variety of fun activities planned for residents of all ages and abilities. HighlightsThe highlight of the month is the 3rd annual Community Appreciation Party, which EPRD is co-hosting with the Evergreen Chamber of Commerce on Thu, July 12, from 5-7:30 PMat Buchanan Park Recreation Center. Enjoy free snacks and beverages while learning about EPRD’s many programs, and about senior wellness. All attendees will be entered in a drawing for fun prizes.
Free Outdoor Fitness ClassEPRD is also holding a free strength and conditioning/yoga class called Muscles and Yoga that morning at 9:15 AM on Buchanan Field.
